Study Abroad Poland is a division of Study Abroad Compass, LLC. It was established with the goal of expanding academic year, semester, and summer opportunities for students who are specifically interested in the Polish language and culture.

Our mission is to provide enriching programs in a variety of academic disciplines so that every student can find the right program. In addition to a challenging curriculum, we aim to facilitate language learning and cultural immersion through well-organized activities. Our on-site staff members have worked extensively with international groups, so our students can enjoy a stress-free experience abroad.

Meet  Our Team

Holly Bouma

Executive Director

Holly is originally from Chicago and has extensive experience living, working, and traveling in Central Europe for 10 years after graduating from college. She has an MA Degree from Lancaster University and a BA Degree from the University of Rochester. She has worked in the field of international education for over a decade. She loves Central Europe for its rich history and strong cultural traditions and she is passionate about helping students explore this beautiful region though study abroad.

Renata Micajova

Marketing Director

Renata is originally from Slovakia. She holds an MA Degree from Lancaster University and a BA Degree from the State University of New York-Empire State College in cooperation with the University of New York in Prague. Before joining our team, she worked as a Corporate Affairs Manager at UNYP and as a Development Specialist at the May Institute in Boston. She has many years of professional experience in the fields of education, training and development, and she enjoys sharing her knowledge of Central Europe with our students.

Milena Weisz

Admissions Counselor

Milena is originally from Los Angeles. She currently lives in Prague and studies at the University of New York in Prague. Before that she lived and studied in Wroclaw, Poland. She has great insight into living in Central Europe, so she is the best resource for our students. Her hobbies include learning languages, sports, and reading.

Mike Vail

Marketing Assistant

Mike is an American currently living in Krakow, Poland where he is pursuing his MA in TransAtlantic Studies at Jagiellonian University. He has studied abroad in Sweden, France, and South Korea as an undergraduate at Central Connecticut State University where he graduated with a BA in International Studies and a BA in French. Mike’s other interests include hiking, kayaking, and traveling.

Sarah Grunberg

Head Program Director in Warsaw

Sarah is from Ithaca, NY, and is Polish-American. She has lived in Warsaw for three years while completing her PhD at the Graduate School for Social Research in Warsaw. Every term she looks forward to meeting new students who share a common interest in Poland and showing them the full array of the country’s many cultural treasures.

Aleksandra Majerowicz

Program Director in Krakow

Aleksandra is a Psychology student at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. She likes travelling, reading books and listening to music. She’s been living in this wonderful city for three years and she’s still exploring it. She has worked with many student groups in the past and she’s happy to be able to show its beauty and charm to our students.

Roland Lewinski

Program Director in Wroclaw

Roland is a student at the University of Wroclaw, majoring in Journalism and Philosophy. He speaks fluent Polish, Italian, and English. He has extensive experience working with international students at the University of Wroclaw in a similar position, and he knows the city inside and out. He is an expert on living in Wroclaw!

Mikhail Biyata

Program Director in Kiev

Mikhail is originally from Kiev and is a native speaker of both Russian and Ukrainian.  He graduated from Donetsk National University with a degree in International Relations and became a certified state interpreter. He worked for many years in business, and in 2008 he started his own Russian/Ukrainian language school so that he can help foreigners learn about Ukraine.

 

Solomija Buk

Program Director in Lviv

Solomija is originally from Lviv, Ukraine. She has a PhD in linguistics and works as an Associate Professor at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. She has taken part in about 80 international courses, seminars and scientific conferences and that is why she looks forward to showing her native Ukrainian culture to our students. Her hobbies include psychology and traveling.
